What does it mean?

The impact on the area, to our minds, would be catastrophic.

A development of this scale would turn this pretty, semi-rural area from an  olde-worlde community to an ugly and incongruent mixture of old and modern.

With potentially at least another 12* cars driving up and down the leafy lane, it would no longer be the quiet country road that has always offered relative safety to the many visitors, young and old alike.
* Most families have more than one car. We could be looking at 24 or more cars, in Nightingale Valley.

The increase in traffic, and indeed the increase in human populous, is bound to be detrimental to the wildlife in the area.

This is a Conservation Area.
At least that is what is said in estate agent's details.
Buyer's would be aware of that fact.

There is clear and substantial evidence, from the many comments in the e-Petition, that the area is well used as a place of relaxation or play, by many local families.
And some, not so local.

Cars kill animals.
Anyone who spends time on our motorways, will be sickened by the many dead animals we see.
Badgers, foxes, hedgehogs, rabbits, and more.
We are most thankful that places like Nightingale Valley give safe refuge to these species.
The valley and the woods are full of badgers, squirrels and foxes, and various species of birds.

What impact will there be on their lives? It can't be a positive one, that's for sure!

Lump these facts together with the fact that the current services - for example drainage, sewerage, electricity, etc. would probably not be able to cope with the addition of another 12 households; the road would not be able to physically cope with another 12 or so vehicles constantly up and down it.

Think of the immediate damage to be caused by demolition and construction work - lorries, diggers and other heavy plant constantly ploughing up and down day after day for months and months - posing a danger to residents, their property, the scouts using the scout hut, other children, dogs and visitors ......

Please think how this development may affect you and your family.
You may not live next door to it, but if you are conservation-conscious, use the valley and woods for recreational purposes, your children use the scout hut or walk through the woods to school and back, then it could have an impact!
